Of course it is now infested with American and Aussie guides. With dozens stationed in all the small towns.
Where is this located in Gippsland?
Jeez been doing it wrong for the last 4 years

Persistence does pay, try it at home. Would you like a bikkie with your cuppa darling? no, are you sure? yes I'm sure, they're pretty good?, no thanks! go on ? what about a bit of Carrot cake?, mmmmmmmmmm ...... All right then give me a bit of cake. see persistence pays but often a late fly change can seal the deal :)
Triplets.
Great vid Gav but relax! Fishing like you’re on your eighth cup of coffee 🤣 guess you gotta keep the line speed up with the little 2wt
Do they look brown?
If you're monitoring this, I am curious which hip pack you're using? This place looks fun! I have the opportunity to fish the flats of Oahu this coming spring and I am excited!
Thanks for posting, good stuff!
3rd trip in September this year - Whoo hoo
Are these pretty easy to install on the seats in the car?
Can you please send me the physical address like road. I am living in Melbourne
489 South Rd Bentleigh
Definitely be a great idea to open it up for catch and release during the closed season
Dang, how long of a fight was that😂
It would be great to see some footage on saltwater fly fishing as there is quite a few people indulging in this form of fly fishing.
Any fly recommendations for this time of year? Haven’t had much luck there recently
Terrific location, just love those small creeks, which can often surprise you. I've fished in that area years ago, and had a lot of success on a small Greenwell, cheers.
nice one
Actually called horseshoe lagoon
What a place and we’re excited for this episode! Thanks for visiting Tassie
great content Gents. cheers
We're looking forward to this!
I've caught on the upper itchen stocked browns (ginormous), stocked rainbows, wild browns and grayling, and seen herons otters and kingfishers. And the landscape is like a painting.
I bought mine in 2017 ( 10ft 6 wt) ..used it for one season..shelved it until the other day and first fish back it snapped while casting!!
Hi mate, its not the casting that snaps the rods, its the stuff that happens prior that does the damage as you would know. Just give the Bentleigh shop a call and get that section replaced. Thanks Gavin
@@HurleysFlyFishing yeah shelving it in its case sure causes wear and tear..I get what you mean..I fixed it so all good
Gnarly!
Cool
Is that the Swampy Plains river near Geehi?
Where was your base camp?
Wife and I want to visit and flats fish. Any suggestions on where to look/start?
Sorry Kiki, we were in the north island, but some good flats all around the islands, if you get the right tides...
has the main compartment got dividers in it to? for instance if i want to put my wading boots in the front compartment and then the waders in the main compartment but also my clothes are my clothes going to get wet? or alternatively can wading boots and my waders fit into the front compartment
The front compartment can hold either boots or waders, but considering boots take longer to dry, I would use it for them, waders dry in no time, so I can't imagine it getting all your clothes wet, but you could put your waders inside out, or in a plastic bag. Although presuming your heading home anyway, it probably doesn't really matter too much. The under section can also hold boots and or waders as well if required. Thanks Colby
Keep them all! Great eating and give the raw scraps to dogs, cats or chickens. Freeze the raw parts first for two days before you give them to pets. It’s better for pets and it’s better for the environment.
31 seconds? REALLY Gav?
31 seconds, why it should have been 30 or 35? The full show on Sunday goes for a little longer ;)
It seems that the entire world likes to fish in my river. I don't know how many times I have to say it; 'Stay off of my river!' 😉😃
A few more Bill unfortunately ;)
Hi can you tell me the spot where you catch this fish send same location please I’m coming next year thanks
Eucumbene river near Adaminaby, lovely place at the right time of year.
hey gav i live in hamilton and I cant figure that lake out for the life of me!
Hi Christian, yep she's a bugger of a lake. I think it is just so dependant on stocking, and the lack of it plays a massive role in your frustration! It really could be so good if it was treated the same way as Lake Wendouree for example, with weed cutters and excellent stocking maintained over a long period... The food is there, with nothing to eat it! So I feel your pain Christian!
Awesome video!
Reminds me a little of the swampy plains river in nsw with the willows and the fish close in to the bank. They are tough fisheries but worth the effort.
Saya senang bisa menyaksikan video nya kawan
hi i looked everywhere on their website and there is no mention about "airbag" compatability.
Hi, mine are, and I would be surprised if all the Dingo Trails aren't, its pretty important, and the cheap ones aren't. They stitch the airbag sides in a sacrificial stitch to allow for airbag deployment, and need to be mindful of that when putting them on, its all over the instructions. Maybe give them a call or an email, they are brilliant to deal with, and a magnificent product. Regards Gavin
You will find specific 'Airbag' comments on models that don't have side airbags. An example is the Toyota Hilux MK7 covers. You have the option to get Non-Airbag covers for models without airbags. Meaning all others will have Airbag compatibility. Yes, they should put it on their website. It is a good selling point, but I suppose everyone expects airbag compatibility as standard these days.
Bucket List for me 😁
Beautiful fish. Are Stalker rods available is Sydney? There use to be a shop at Drummoyne which sold them.
Only via mail/web/phone order from our Melbourne store Ian unfortunately.
@@HurleysFlyFishing thank you. I’ll follow up on my next rod. Thanks for the On The Fly series. The piece on Carp was interesting and I’ll give it a try, at some stage. Regards
i luv my little stalker rod
Me too ;)
Nice!!
The blues look like dime bright steelhead 👍😄
Another great show. Good seeing you back on television; educational and entertaining. Keeps us keen between fishing trips. Thank you.
Thanks Ian, glad it helps! Forces me to get out fishing more as well!
Hi Gavin. Hour clips are wnderful. Basically. do most of the streams in NE Victoria and Gippsland hold trout? I know the major systems do? I guess the smaller feeder streams do as well?
Yep, pretty much every bit of water holds them, especially the high country ones. Some in Gippsland where it gets a little warm not so much and unfortunately carp have got fairly high up nowadays, but as a rule if its cool the trout are in there.
Such gorgeous streams. You are so fortunate in Victoria! I don't know if I;ll ever get there-so many interruptions in recent years. :-(
Hi Terry, yep, Victoria holds a stack of great waterways and unfortunately always plenty of interruptions, but you never know! Keep positive!!!
@@HurleysFlyFishing Thanks for the nice and helpful replies. I''ll do my best to get there. It;s all wet and a bit flooded up here! :-):-) I have a 1 wt and a 4 wt. Woud the 1 wt be OK for the little streams-it does OK here. :-)
@@TERRYBIGGENDEN Yep, for fish to a pound it will be great fun. On some slightly bigger rivers where the fish often get to 1.5-3lb I use the 4wt, but up to you, hooking them is the main thing!
@@HurleysFlyFishing Thanks. I tought as much. K have both so itls fine.. I really enjoy your clips and huints. Best wishes.
Loving this show. Keep up the great work!
Thanks Phil, I'm trying ;)
Good gillies are hard to find !
It was a funny day actually Jeff!!!
I fished for sharks it was the last day of my fishing trip with infamous Bill Beck I am fairly sure I met you afterwards a few year’s ago now you gave me a demonstration on how you filleted trout I had not seen it done that way before you cut through all the ribs then sliced them out from the inside the fillet I use that method now so thanks for that .best regards.
Hi Michael, unfortunately not me, but I'll take the thanks anyway... Infamous Bill, he's a character isn't he...
@@HurleysFlyFishing sorry about that looked very similar it was ten years ago and I am a not quite as old as Bill but close so my mistake.best regards
